Shabby (is) Chic!
Shabby chic is a concept which is very, very popular in the 21st Century. Personally, I think it’s a great antidote to the modern pressures of life and that’s why it’s probably so popular. We’re working longer hours, travelling further to get to our jobs and when we get there face a whole lot of other stressful situations. We’re struggling to find more time to spend with our families and many of us face financial stress too. So, it’s nice to put all that behind us (even if just temporarily) and kick back in a beautiful, relaxing environment surrounded by some lovely old pieces of re-purposed furniture, beautiful, feminine textiles and pastel colors, soft furnishings such as cushions, throw pillows, bedding, curtains, duvet covers and more.
As beautiful as all that sounds though, re-purposing old furniture (especially antiques) can be quite expensive and time-consuming. So, one cheap and cheerful way to introduce the shabby-chic style into your life would be to grab some smaller items such as soft furnishings, stationery such as planners and notebooks, phone cases, postcards, and other less-expensive gifts with gorgeous old-world floral patterns on, soft pastel-hued vintage patterns and more.
I’ve collected some pretty, shabby-chic style gift ideas below for you to check out, to inspire, and to give you some ideas if you’re gift-hunting or just looking to update your decor with some low-key ways to decorate a room. Enjoy the pretty colors and trip back through time. 🙂
